The story was exciting, pulse pounding, and tearful at times, and then it was steamy and sexy as well. It was a well rounded romance that went just past the line of a conventional romance or sex and stayed away from an all out graphic erotic romance. The author's characters were fabulous and drew you into the world that Sophie, Hunt, and Megan made. At times I was wondering if Sophie was going to find out the clues needed to make everything right, and the ending was amazing! Top marks for the author bringing in the I-Team family and their prior stories and those yet to come, as I have now gone back and ordered the previous books to read.

If you want to read a really good book, that wont bore you with frivolous details just to make it longer, but draws you in with real emotions, and situations, and top it off with an exceptionally sexy alpha male that heats up the sheets with his woman wow!

This author is now on my must read list and I will be spending time reading the other books in the I-Team series. I've been hooked! You will be too when you read this series.

First off, only a skilled storyteller like Pamela Clare can make us care for an Federal prisoner -- a highly dangerous man -- like Marc, especially when the story opens with him taking heroine, Sophie, hostage so he can escape. But this is one of the classic love stories featuring a couple who are absolutely made to be together.

Hunt is the bad boy in Sophie's High School, the senior hunk with a chip on his shoulder. Sophie shares a magical night with Hunt before he leaves on his career in the military.

12 years later, Sophie is a crusading investigative reporter who has befriended a young 19 yr old woman, Megan, a source for a story. Sophie thinks back to the boy she knew in high school, hunt, affection, often wondering what became of him. Concerned when Megan goes on the run with her baby, Sophie isn't suspicious when Megan's much older brother, Marc, asks to see her. He is serving a life sentence for murder, but Sophie isn't intimidated by the 6-4, powerful con. (It helps that he is strikingly handsome, I suppose.)

A former Special Forces sniper and DEA agent, Marc masterminds an escape from prison and takes Sophie hostage, putting her life in danger. After all, it's the middle of January in Denver. Sophie is terrified and he feels terrible that she has failed to recognize the 18 year old boy she has never forgotten in the man he has become.

Now, in the hands of an average story teller, Marc might get off on the wrong foot with the reader. But there is more to the story, and much more to Marc Hunter. Marc's backstory Clare reveals to Sophie and to the reader is tragic, and heartbreaking. But underneath is his dry wit that has kept him going and he is one of the good guys. (He might think like a bad guy, but he isn't.)

Sophie is a gentle caring and loyal person. And she is a dedicated investigative journalist. She also becomes Marc's champion and and the only person who believes in him when things get really tough.

The pair embark a action-packed, thrill ride across Denver and into the Rockies as they search for Marc's sister. Their goal is to reach her before the bad guys do. But Marc is also being chased by the good guys and it's hard to tell who's who. (One of the good guys being former FBI agent Julian Darcangelo from Hard Evidence who is now a Denver PD cop.) If you've read Clare's later I-Team stories this is where the bromance starts that fans affectionately call Marcangelo.

This pair has to work for their HEA.

As the adventure begins, we find that Marc has planned this whole hostage thing with Sophie because he knows her and has read her news articles about Megan. He also knows Sophie from high school; he was the boy in high school that she gave up her virginity to (but Sophie doesn't know this until later on in the book). Marc only wants to escape so he can help his sister, and he uses drastic measures to find her. Eventually, Marc and Sophie will know the truth about each other, and they will begin their hunt together for Megan in this most suspenseful, thrilling, erogenous tale.

The eroticism and passion in this story is just so overwhelming and breathtaking. Couple that with the excessive excitement of a suspenseful storyline and you've got one totally captivated voyage. The end will just make you desire more tales from the author, Pamela Clare. Excellent read! Highly recommend the adventure!
